Living our Purpose: Midrex Teammates Raise over $20,000 for Relay for Life
June 22, 2022
At Midrex, we see the importance of supporting our communities and giving back to assist those who need it. Because of the compassion, commitment, and generosity of Midrex teammates, we were able to raise $20,445 to benefit the American Cancer Society’s global program.
The Relay for Life Committee sponsored a series of events including raffles, a chili cook-off, games, and a
silent auction, and the response from Midrex teammates has been astounding. We shattered our 2022
goal of $10,000 and boosted our total donations for life-saving cancer research since 2019 to $50,619.
Relay for Life is the signature fundraising event of the American Cancer Society, which is the largest non-
profit funder of cancer research in the world – a cause that has personal significance for the Midrex
family. Shohei Manabe, who was instrumental in the development and growth of Midrex during his 40-
year Kobe Steel career, was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma in January 2012. Our support of Relay
for Life is a celebration of his strength, determination, and perseverance throughout his eight months of
intense treatment, which resulted in a cancer-free diagnosis.
At Midrex, supporting our communities and giving back to assist those in need are in keeping with our
pledge to love and serve others. We are proud of our teammates who volunteer their time and
resources to support worthy causes such as the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
