Living our Purpose: 882 Pounds of Food Donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina

At Midrex, we see the importance of supporting our communities and giving back to assist those who need it. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has upended our lives and created unprecedented challenges for people around the world. In the midst of a global crisis, the Midrex team has stepped up to help their community.
In May 2020, Midrex teammates coordinated a Food Drive benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Second Harvest provides a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. Just since the beginning of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, food banks have seen a monumental increase in the need for food.
During the Food Drive, Midrex teammates collected 822 pounds of food, in addition to several monetary donations and volunteer hours. Feeding America reports that one meal is equal to 1.2 pounds of food – by their measurement, Midrex was able to provide 735 meals to the Charlotte Community.

Midrex’s support through both physical food donations and financial donations allows Second Harvest to continue critical programs that help put food on the table for children, seniors, hardworking families, veterans and even our furry friends in need. During this current pandemic, we are seeing an ever-increasing need, so we truly rely on groups like Midrex who continue to support us. Through service projects like the Food Drive, our teammates demonstrate their commitment to our purpose statement of loving and serving others. We are proud to see our teammates stepping up during this crisis to help those in need and support their community.
