Celebrating National Intern Day with our 2024 Midrex Interns

In celebration of National Intern Day, we are thrilled to introduce our 2024 Midrex interns and share insights into our dynamic internship program designed to foster creativity, flexibility, and professional growth. Our internship program is just one of the many ways we drive our vision of creating a sustainable future for iron and steel; by leading and inspiring the next generation of industry leaders on the impact we have on the future of our planet and industry.
The Midrex internship program offers a unique blend of projects created to encourage interns to explore their creativity and hone their technical and leadership skills. Our projects also help drive our mission of creating a sustainable future for iron and steel – and how that change starts here, with them. The interns are given two types of assignments: Department Projects and People & Culture Projects. These will culminate in their Internship Capstone, which they present at the end of their term. All summer, they engage in self-guided projects that encourage creativity and flexibility, tailored to their specific interests and studies. Their capstone presentation summarizes their experience, highlighting personal development, departmental insights, major tasks, shadowing experiences, and skills developed via LinkedIn Learning.
This summer, we welcomed a group of 13 talented and ambitious individuals eager to make their mark in the Technology industry:

- Brooklynne Smith – MPEG Engineering Intern
- Jack Wilder – Commercial Group Intern
Throughout their time here, our interns have embraced the opportunity to engage in meaningful work, gain valuable insights, and contribute to Midrex’s mission. Here’s what some of our interns had to say about their experience:
“This internship has been instrumental to my development both as an engineer and a young professional. As we reflect on their summer thus far, we are incredibly proud of our 2024 Midrex Interns and the contributions they have made. Their dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm have not only advanced our projects but also enriched our workplace culture. The Midrex internship program continues to be a cornerstone of our commitment to inspiring and teaching the next generation of industry leaders. We look forward to seeing our interns carry forward the skills and experiences gained here, confident that they will achieve great things in their future endeavors.
