President & CEO
Mr. Montague joined Midrex Technologies, Inc. as a co-op student in 1987. He has served in a number of functions, including engineering, operations, technology development, and sales. Prior to being appointed President and COO in 2016, he was Vice President – Sales & Marketing. He was appointed CEO in 2017. Mr. Montague participated in the design and start-ups of numerous MIDREX® Plants, helped to develop many new technologies, and is a co-inventor of several patents. He is a North Carolina native and earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Chief Operating Officer
KC Woody is the Chief Operating Officer at Midrex Technologies, Inc. KC is currently responsible for operations and commercial activities. Since joining the company, KC has held several roles in the Commercial Department at Midrex as well as being the Managing Director of Midrex India Private, Ltd.. He is an Army veteran and a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Executive Vice President
Mr. Imai joined Midrex Technologies, Inc. in 2018. Prior to joining Midrex, he spent nearly 20 years at Kobe Steel, Ltd. While he was at Kobe Steel, he maintained a close relationship with Midrex while serving as a Sales Manager and Planning Manager of the Iron Unit Division, and Administration Manager of the OPCO MIDREX® DR Plant in Venezuela. He also served as a Manager of Corporate Planning Department of the company. He is a graduate of Keio University in Japan, where he studied Economics.
Vice President – Operations
Chris Hayes is the Vice President – Operations at Midrex Technologies, Inc. Chris is currently responsible for leading Midrex Operations including Project Management and Controls, Engineering and Procurement. Since joining Midrex, he has held roles in Engineering, Project Management, and the Global Solutions department and has been actively involved in the design, start-up and upgrade of many of the Midrex plants around the world. Chris earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The State University of New York at Buffalo.
Chief Financial Officer
Gerry joined Midrex Technologies in 2016 as the Chief Financial Officer. Gerry has more than 25 years of diversified experience leading accounting, finance, customer service and administrative units. He is responsible for all finance and accounting aspects of the company, including overseas offices located in UK, India, China, and UAE. Additionally, Gerry leads the MiTeam program at Midrex, which focuses on employee engagement, talent management, and corporate culture initiatives.
Gerry is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida State University.
Chief Information Officer
As the CIO of Midrex Technologies, Curtis is responsible for defining and executing the company’s global technology strategy across more than 20 countries worldwide. Prior to joining Midrex, he spent nearly two decades as a trusted business leader and technology advisor to organizations throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, founding three technology companies along the way.
Curtis holds a B.S. in Computer Science from UNC Charlotte, has been named as one of Charlotte’s “40 Under 40”, and frequently shares his experience by writing on leadership and technology trends, and speaking at business and technology conferences around the world.
Director – Global Human Resources
Kathy Dent is the Director – Global Human Resources for Midrex Technologies, Inc. and has over twenty years of global human resources experience. She has worked at Midrex since 1990 in many roles including: logistics, accounting and human resources. She holds a BA in Business Administration from Queens University of Charlotte and has been a certified Senior Human Resources Professional since 2004.
Director - Sales & Marketing
Mark Boedecker is the Director – Sales & Marketing for Midrex Technologies, leading new Plant Sales , aftermarket solutions, and marketing. With experience in the technology space for 15 years, Mark brings Industry 4.0 concepts to Midrex that create valuable innovations for our clients. He has worked on several project development efforts around the world and was the Plant Sales Manager responsible for the voestalpine Texas, LLC two million ton per year HBI facility commissioned by Midrex and Primetals. Mark earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and his MBA from Duke University.
Director – Research and Technology Development
Todd Astoria is the Director – Research and Technology Development for Midrex Technologies, Inc. and has nearly 20 years of industrial experience. Todd has worked at Midrex since 2005 in many roles including: process engineer, proposals engineer, plant commissioning and start-up, as well as research and development. Todd is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina and Louisiana, and holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Director - Engineering
Will Dempsey is the Director of Engineering at Midrex, where he oversees all engineering disciplines associated with execution of major projects including new plants, plant upgrades, and technology development.
Will has extensive background in Midrex process engineering, including lead design and commissioning roles. Will believes the best engineering solutions are ethical, elegant, practical, and completely satisfy our clients’ needs.
Will holds a Chemical Engineering degree from North Carolina State University.
Director - Projects
Scott Updike is the Director of Projects at Midrex Technologies, Inc. where he oversees project management, construction oversight, project controls, cost estimation and quality assurance for all new plant projects. Scott brings more than 20 years of experience leading complex industrial, energy and defense sector projects. He holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, a Master’s in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor’s in Civil and Environmental Engineering from West Virginia University. Scott is also a licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional.
General Manager – Global Solutions
David has worked in the iron and steel industry for more than 40 years and held senior management positions in direct reduction, steelmaking, and manufacturing. During his career, David has operated steel plants all over the world and prior to joining Midrex, he was the Vice President of Operations for the Lion Group – Banting.
In 2017, David joined Midrex as the General Manager – Global Solutions. Global Solutions is the Midrex aftermarket group, which focuses on offering valuable solutions to operating DR plants. Under his leadership, Midrex expanded it’s service offering to include plant services, spare parts, equipment supply, engineering solutions, water treatment, RPS and MidrexConnect.
Director – Procurement & Logistics
Dave’s 40 plus year career with Stone and Webster, Kaiser Engineers, Samsung Heavy Industries and Midrex Technologies, Inc. has exposed him to a variety of positions and industries. Along the way he’s been an expediter, purchaser, a construction manager, a salesman but mostly he’s been a procurement manager and currently a procurement director. His assignments have been predominantly office locations but have included domestic and foreign project site locations.
Brandy Reese, SHRM-SCP
Director - Talent Development
Brandy joined Midrex Technologies in 2019 as Director – Talent Development. Brandy has more than 20 years of global experience leading recruitment, learning and development, organizational design and performance management efforts. Brandy leads the MiTeam program at Midrex, which focuses on employee engagement, talent management and corporate culture initiatives. Brandy holds a Masters in Instructional Technology from Towson University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Stevenson University. She is a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional, SHRM-SCP.
